Multifunction Vehicle – the All-Rounder on the Building Yard

Many municipal building yards and depots rely on multifunctional vehicles when it comes to street maintenance. Whether snow plow and silo spreader for winter service, tipper, mowing or trench cleaning. In addition to the municipal implement carriers, trucks with multi-functional equipment are also used here.

The district of Lüneburg, was the first municipality in Northern Germany to purchase 2 Scania G370s. These have a central load-sensing hydraulic drive that controls all attachments centrally. In this new system, the hydraulics only deliver as much volume flow as the active attachments need.

The various attachments are controlled via a central control panel in the center console. The crane attachment also has a remote control so that it can also be controlled from outside the vehicle.

Another reason for purchasing the two G370s was the overdrive gearbox that offers gears with a long gear ratio. In the case of longer cross-country trips, this saves diesel despite all-wheel drive, since the drive speed is only 1,300 revolutions per minute at a travel speed of 80km/h.
